Conference 2018: MULTIDISCIPLINARY COOPERATION IN THE AREA OF CHILD PROTECTION AGAINST ALL FORMS OF VIOLENCE

On 27th and 28th of September 2018, under the auspices of the Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Family, Jan Richter, in Central Slovakia, an international conference “SUPPORTING MULTIDISCIPLINARY COOPERATION IN THE AREA OF CHILD PROTECTION AGAINST ALL FORMS OF VIOLENCE” took place. The conference within the National Project of Support the Protection of Children against Violence was organised by the local coordinators for the protection of children against violence in cooperation with the National Coordination Center for Resolving the Issues of Violence against Children.

The conference was attended by approximately 200 representatives of all cooperating entities from all over Slovakia. After the introduction speech of Mgr. Mária Vargová, Director of the National Coordination Centre for Resolving the Issues of Violence against Children, and welcoming participants by PhDr. Miroslav Náhllik, Director of the Department of Social Affairs and Family of the Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family in Zvolen, interesting contributions from experts focused on multidisciplinary cooperation in the field of protection of children against violence followed.

Doc. Mgr. Oldřich Matoušek, CSc. from the Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Charles University in Prague, made a contribution on the subject of the Divorce on the bases of the agreement, as a field of interdisciplinary cooperation in the interest of the child. The given contribution attracted participants mainly from the point of view of possible introducing of innovative forms into multidisciplinary cooperation of experts – so called “The Cochem model”, as well as other possibilities for multidisciplinary cooperation of all supportive professions in the field such as authorities of socio-legal protection of children and social guardianship, mediators, psychologists, lawyers, court experts and judges in order to facilitate survival and adaptation of children to the situation of divorcing parents and after the divorce. PaedDr. Nadezda Čabiňáková introduced several very interesting and inspiring publications of PORTAL, which are devoted to the area of ​​protection of children against violence. Mgr. Zuzana Kusá, CSc. from the Sociological Institute of SAS, took attention of participants in its contribution called Socio-Economic Context with Family Crisis. PaedDr. Lenka Kubrichtová from educational department Kalokagathie Prague, with the contribution of Child in Crisis, presented her long-standing experience with organising a multidisciplinary nationwide seminar Child in Crisis in the Czech Republic. Mgr. Mariana Kováčová, PhD., President of the Slovak Coalition for Children, Founder of the Center Slniečko, n.o. and a longtime expert in the field of child protection against violence, presented her contribution entitled Multidisciplinary Cooperation – Prevention of Secondary Victimization of Child Victims of Violence, which was revived by several examples of practice. Doc. Mgr. Albín Škoviera, PhD.  contribution The Reflection of the Rights of the Child in the Post-Modern Period has led to a reflection on the context of the work of experts in the area of ​​protection of children’s rights.

On behalf of organising team of the Coordinators of Children Protection from Violence, we would like to thank all the participants, partners and guests who have accepted the invitation to the Conference 2018 at Masarykov dvor, organised within the framework of the National Project to Support the Protection of Children from Violence. We also thank the participants in the accompanying events taking place in Detva and the participating schools. We believe that we will meet again in the coming year and we will be able to arrange another conference devoted to the topic of  Supporting Multidisciplinary Cooperation in the Field of Protecting Children from all Forms of Violence.
