New campaign “IT DOES CONCERN ME”
On the occasion of ongoing international and European days devoted to children and their protection, National coordination Centre for Resolving the Issues of Violence against Children launched new campaign “It does concern me” aimed at raising awareness on the importance to listen to child´s voice.
The campaign is aimed at sensitisation of the public (adults as well as children as of age 12 years old) to the problematic of violence against children, specifically by reflecting the importance to pay attention on what is happening around us- to pay attention to children and listen to those who trying to tell us something by which the chance of early intervention is increasing if needed. The first step in combatting the violence is to admit its existence. So do its terrifying amount and proximity.
The campaign emphasises the fact the violence does not only concern those who are its victims but it does concern all of us- parents, siblings, friends, unknown passerby.
The campaign is therefore more „call for action“ than standard information campaign- when we listen, we get to know the problem which is the first step to the solution. Do not be blind, do not ignore, do not deny.
Life of children, who experience violence, is not black neither dark. They have it also colourful and we aim to remind that throughout our campaign. These children can also have a nice and quality time. They can smile and play, they can even like their tormentors, they can hope everything gets change, they can believe in rehab. Let´s not look for children crying and standing in the corner. The fact they do not sit in the darkness and do not cry does not mean that violence is not going to leave indelible deep and painful mark in their lives.
The campaign “It does concern me” was launched on 18th of November 2018, on the European day on the protection of children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse, in the online format (promotion of video through social networks: Youtube, Facebook, Instagram referring to www.detstvobeznasilia.gov.sk ). Probably as of the beginning of December, television video and radio recording specially created for the campaign are going to be broadcasted in commercial media. The campaign has also its printed version (posters, roll-ups and promotional items)- that is going to be used for purposes of the conferences, organised discussions and other events related to the problematic of violence against children and need of their protection- on national as well as regional level.
