The most important duty of an adult is to report the violation of the rights of the child, resp. on the commission of a criminal offense.

This obligation is not only a moral obligation, but also a legal one (the Act on the Social Legal Protection of Children and Social Guardianship and the Criminal Code).

Anyone who learns about a violation of the rights of the child is obliged to report it, even if the adult does not know or can not assess whether it is a crime or what a crime. Also, it may not be clear who the perpetrator is when the report is made.

If a violation of the rights of the child is reported to the body of Social Protection and social guardianship, he / she is obliged to keep the identity of the notifier secret, if the notifier so requests; this does not apply if the body for social protection of children and social guardianship provides information to a body active in criminal proceedings, a court and another body for the purpose established by a special regulation. The body of Social Protection of Children and social guardianship may withhold the identity of the notifier if this is necessary to achieve the purpose of verifying the notification.

At the request of the notifier, the criminal report shall not state his identity. Materials enabling such notifier to be identified shall be deposited with the Public Prosecutor's Office. They shall be placed on the file only with his consent.
